Frugal – spend cut – w/e 17/05/15

From my weekly budget of £20, I have spent:

Total £0, £20 into savings (I put £10 into general savings and £10 into travel fund)

Food shopping

  • 1.25kg beef mince – £6.95
  • 1kg lamb mince – £5.00
  • 2 x coconut milk – £2.00
  • Sweet potatoes – £1.50
  • Courgettes – £1.75
  • Beef brisket – £6.12
  • Mushrooms – £0.90

Subtotal – £24.22 – all sensible buys and some will last beyond this week. The beef brisket was the most extravagant, it was intended for beef jerky when my coconut aminos arrived. However, in the end it became a Greek stew.

  • Basil and parsley – £1.00
  • 2 x cooked beetroot – £0.90
  • Garlic – £0.89
  • 2 x avocados – £1.49
  • Bananas – £1.00
  • Peppers – £0.95
  • Olive oil – £1.99
  • Olive oil light – £2.59
  • Pistachios – £1.99
  • Cashews – £1.99

Subtotal – £14.19. There are two olive oils because the light one is for homemade mayonnaise. The batch I made last week was with extra virgin olive oil and it had a very strong olive oil flavour.

This third shop was all for things for next week, but I had to get it on Saturday as I had use of the car and wanted to go to a particular supermarket which is not in walking distance.

  • 2 x onions – £1.10
  • 3 x different sea salts – £2.97
  • Paprika – £0.41
  • Frying steak – £2.47
  • 2 x avocados – £1.78
  • 2 x boxes of teabags – ££2.78
  • Mushrooms – £0.59
  • Peppers – £1.17
  • Kale – £0.75

Subtotal – £14.02

Total – £52.43

Running total for May – monthly budget £150, £74.80 spent, £75.20 remaining. This is fine, halfway through the month and halfway through the budget
